Kulturungdom och konstnären Anna Jarosz bjuder in till digitalt vernissage för utställningen och konstprojektet ‘Although we all know what it means...'. I ett experimentellt format resonerar projektet med feministiska normer kring sårbarhet, könsidentitet och kroppens könskodning i en kontext av global pandemi. Utgångspunkten är det personliga och kollektiva traumat, där konstnären betraktar en okänd, obekant värld.

‘Although we all know what it means…’ återskapar ett fiktivt, antropomorfistiskt universum, som tar plats i ett digitalt utställningsrum.

Om konstnären / konstnärerna:
Anna Jarosz är en ung konstnär som nyligen flyttat från Tjeckien till Sverige. Hen intresserar sig framför allt för frågor kring trauma kopplat till könsidentitet, normer och icke-normativa kroppar. Genom att undersöka dessa frågor genom stillbild, rumsliga installationer, skulpturala objekt, ljud, video and andra media fokuserar hen på den personliga och kollektiva erfarenheten av trauma, delad av många. Konsten används som ett verktyg för att omkullkasta socialt konstruerad terminologi kring normer, könsidentitet och objektifiering av kroppen utifrån samtida feministiska tänkare, mytologi, existentiell filosofi och psykoanalys.

Videoinstallationen som har premiär kl 17.30 har skapats tillsammans med den tysk-polska ljud/performace-konstnären Agatha Lewandowski. Agathas konstnärliga arbete utgår ofta från frågor kring självuppfattning och medvetenhet, där hen undersöker akustiska utrymmen genom såväl komponerade och abstrakta ljud.

Kulturungdom member Anna Jarosz have been applying for K-pengar to realise an art project called “Although we all know what it means…”. The project would have been shown at Gallery Entrance, Gothenburg, but according to the coronavirus crisis we invite you to a part of the vernissage online, at Instagram stories & in an online exhibition room with material prepared especially for this occasion. The installation recreates a phantom space, an anthropomorphic universe in an online exhibition space. With its new experimental online form, being both tragic and sensual, Anna’s work aims to resonate with the feminist tenets of the role of the vulnerable and gendered body (now in a new context of global pandemic). The starting point for the artwork is trauma, the artist tried to put herself in position of an observer of a current world state of the unknown. An interview and extracts from the online exhibition will also be published at kulturungdom.se.

About the artists
Anna Jarosz is an artist who recently moved to Sweden to study at Valand Academy of Art in Gothenburg. She graduated with BFA degree from photography department at FAMU in Prague, Czech Republic. Her main focus of interest is gendered trauma and abjected bodies. By investigating these issues through the lens of still and moving camera but also by building spatial installations that combine sculptural objects, sound, video and other media, she focuses on trauma, trauma being a very personal experience to an individual or as a collective experience shared by many. She uses art as a tool to reverse socially constructed terminologies of gender and norms by emphasising the objectification of bodies (often in the context of her own experiences, social background and nationality). She touches upon the general obsession of gendered bodies and the unspoken weaknesses that are so often connected to the alienation of different kinds. Inspired by contemporary feminist thought, mythologies, existentialist philosophy and psychoanalysis, she looks into deep aspects of trauma.

Agatha Lewandowski is a German/Polish composer and artist working with sound, installation and performance. Her work investigates sonic phenomena and acoustic spaces; by composing and abstracting found sounds she aims to question and influence self-perception and awareness, and ultimately reality. She holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from Umeå Academy of Fine Arts.
