“Memories That Made Us” is an art photography project exploring my family history. It documents my mother’s hometown, Islam Grčki (near Zadar, Croatia), a place marked by the events of the 1990s war. The project combines newly shot photographs with old family images to blend past and present. Developing this project I have travelled back to Islam Grcki and stayed at the house for several days documenting the surroundings and gathering materials. I have found old photographs that were kept in the house,scanned them and combined them together with newly taken ones. I have gathered texts and old letters and wrote my own dairy entries about the place.
